Anthony Atala - La Ciudad de las Ideas 2012 "The Magic of If" Anthony Atala: Es el director del Instituto de Medicina Regenerativa de la Universidad de Wake Forest. El Dr. Atala es cirujano e investigador en el área de medicina regenerativa. Su trabajo actual se centra en el crecimiento de nuevas células, tejidos y órganos para los pacientes. Encabeza un equipo de aproximadamente 300 médicos e investigadores. Ya han sido utilizadas clínicamente diez aplicaciones de tecnologías desarrolladas en su laboratorio. Dr. Atala is a practicing surgeon and a researcher in the area of regenerative medicine. His current work focuses on growing new human cells, tissues and organs for patients. Dr. Atala heads a team of approximately 300 physicians and researchers. Ten applications of technologies developed in Dr. Atala's laboratory have been used clinically. Con la participación de más de 60 conferencistas, científicos, humanistas y líderes de opinión, del 8 al 10 de noviembre, el Complejo Cultural Universitario de la benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla fungirá como sede de este festival internacional. De manera paralela, se presentará un programa artístico y cultural que integrará cortometrajes, intervenciones artísticas y más. Andrés Roemer, Presidente de Poder Cívico, A. C. y Curador de La Ciudad de las Ideas, es el audaz creador del festival. Tiene un postdoctorado en Códigos Culturales y Psicología Evolutiva por la Escuela de Derecho de la Universidad de California en Berkeley (2012), y un doctorado en Políticas Públicas por la misma universidad con Distinción Académica (1991-1994). Sus campos de especialización son políticas culturales, derecho, economía y psicología evolutiva. Andrés Roemer tiene maestría en Administración Pública por la Universidad de Harvard, Massachusetts (1989-1991). Es licenciado, con Mención Honorífica, en Economía por el Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (1983-1987), al igual que licenciado en Derecho por la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (1983-1987), también con Mención Honorífica. La Ciudad de las Ideas is a Festival of brilliant minds, a celebration of man's creativity and curiosity. With the participation of over sixty speakers, scientists, humanists and opinion leaders, the festival takes place from the 8th to the 10th of November at the Complejo Cultural Universitario de la benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla, bUAP. At this unique event, we also offer an artistic and cultural programme that includes short films, artistic interventions, and more. Andrés Roemer, President of Poder Cívico, A.C. and Curator of La Ciudad de las Ideas, is the creator of this event.
